Assessment Data Analysis Training

The information is out there. Let’s use it to get better at what we do!

Most school districts have comprehensive systems that provide teachers and principals with data, but few are using data in a consistent and effective manner. This is largely due to:

  • “Paralysis through analysis”: Teachers can easily become overwhelmed by the amount of information the reports provide.
  • Lack of a structured and non-judgmental process for helping teachers use data to improve their teaching.

At CEP, we train teachers to read and interpret the data on their reports, but we don’t stop there. Our protocols are designed to help teachers reflect on their beliefs, expectations and instructional practices. Working with their colleagues, teachers experience this analytical work as a collaborative process, so that no one is left to seek solutions on their own. The whole group benefits from the individual and collective knowledge teachers are able to access when they work together using data to identify and solve problems.

Teachers who can analyze data effectively become adept at using it appropriately to meet their students’ needs. CEP’s unique method helps teachers develop this skill and enables them to consolidate sound instructional practices that are rooted in their own instructional philosophy.
